Niagara Falls

We are having a wonderful Indian Summer! Today it got up to almost 80 degrees!!!

I heard from Kristen it snowed in UT today! Lol It will be us soon enough, but hahaha (oh c'mon you know you will be laughing at us when we are in a blizzard or ice storm)!!!

Anyhoo the kids didn't have school (Columbus Day), so we took a ride up to the Falls. THANK FOR YOUR HELP GEORGE!!!!!It was hard to get everyone ready to go, but the Falls didn't disappoint!
Here is the view of the Horseshoe Falls from the Canadian side,

This is why Mom's HATE Niagara Falls.....

big long drop

These are the American Falls (again view from Canada).

Ben described it a saying "WOW WOW WOW" over and over.

Andrew just wanted to see the tour helicopters that flew over head.

Sarah thought there was too many weird fashions in Canada....

We didn't make in time to ride the Maid of Mist, but next time someone comes to visit us here in NY( hint hint), We take them to the Falls...and we will ride it!

This is the perpetual rainbow.

This is a boat that, in 1918, got stuck literally a few 100 yards away from the Falls.

They opened the bottom doors of the boat so the water would rush in and partially "sink" the boat. Then to save the crew- they took a cannon to a near by roof of power building and shot an escape line to them. It took 4 hours to get a cannon to the roof.

For some, the biggest hit was riding the shuttle (a REAL CITY BUS) from our parking to the Falls.

The snow, yea, not loving it. So much for covering the tomato plants. Summer or at least fall should make a return by the end of the week, just as you get the snow. Niagara looks like a good time had by all.

what a fun trip! I love your water pictures, and I didn't know the details of the old boat! Neat.

I must say, the first time I visited The Falls, I was disappointed. It was Feb 1999 and I was by myself. I think I had just built it up so much in my mind's eye that it didn't meet my expectations. However, I fell in love with the falls later and have even visited there in a snow/ice storm. It is an awesome place and I look forward to going back again some day...
