Out of the 7 children we have, the first three were thumb suckers and the last 4 have been binky babies. I tried to get Benjamin to be a thumb sucker, but it didn't work.
We normally get the kids done with binkies easily; Andrew is driving me crazy (as usual).
He was totally off the binky until Benjamin was born. He decided that would change. We would take it away- he would climb into Benjamin's crib and take it away from Ben.
We cut his, and told him they broke, he would "ask Benjamin to borrow one, and Benjamin said 'yes'."
I am at a point where I want to be done with binky's, but I want it easy.
My question is do we go cold turkey with both children, or what?
My dilema is that most nights I sleep all the way through (shhhhh don't jinx it). When Benjamin does wake up, there is a binky waiting and a cup of water. It works 88.3% of the time (math cited by Scott).
I'll take it hoping my odds improve.
What happens if I take away the binky? Odds say my % of sleeping will decrease.
I like sleep.
A lot.
I have a three year old that is a binky mouth.
All of the time.
When we tell Andrew to keep it in his bed, he does. He then falls asleep while sitting on his bed sucking the dang thing, and of course is up jumping off the walls until midnight or past.
or he goes into the diaper bag/church bag and goes to a quiet place to get his fix.
How bad is it really to have a binky boy?
I don't want a bink -addict.
One of my daughter's sucked her thumb until 8....like me( well I had a binky). We got over it and are normal. Hey now! I know what you are thinking, but in the larger picture kind of "normal".
At least Andrew doesn't use his binky in public, like she did.
He probably won't have it on his mission.
Right?
Should I just go cold turkey for 2-3 weeks?

The World According to Binky

I have to giggle because when I had my first she gave up the bink and didn't suck her thumb either at about 3 months. After that I thought to my oh-so-humble self "I will NEVER have one of THOSE older toddlers with a binky!" lol. My second had the binky (for naps only mind you) until he was almost 4, yes FOUR, years old. My 3rd gave it up easily and my 4th still has it. He's graduated to keeping it in his crib but he's not 2 until June so maybe he'll be rid of it by then. Good luck. I think cold turkey is the easiest way to go unless you want them to give it up on their own. It should only take a couple of days but be sure there aren't hidden binky's for him to find later!
