cyber begging for a dryer

Sooooo how many loads do you think I do in a week? A lot about 14-18 on a good week. That doesn't doesn't include change of season and sick weeks. Last year we had this stomach virus go through the house.....13 loads in one day. Our septic didn't handle that well.

I never get anything new. Okay a few things and 9 yrs ago when we moved in we got a new dryer and a used washer. They both went in September. These machines run 6 days a week 7 if the ox is in the mire.

I now have a dryer that, I kid you not, takes 90-180 mins a load on a good day. It is more like 240 mins. I HATE IT. I just need to do my job and get it done. I don't have time or energy for this. Laundry is my worst thing anyway. I'd rather clean bathrooms- seriously.

I am not hanging my laundry up in my family room near the wood stove I am not getting a freakin clothes line and going out side. All these are wonderful suggestions and I know you guys are just trying to help, but it's not happening. I just want a dryer that works....well....a commercial laundry mat size would be ideal.
I have prayed for one and was offered - no joke Jen- a beige couch. Obviously either Heavenly Father is toying with me with His supreme sense of humor, or as I suspect, doesn't care about my freaking out about laundry.

The pile grows daily.... This has become Scott's mission to "figure it out". We can't get a new on until he figures it out. It has heat, it turns, the vent is completely clean.... Can't he get me a new used one and figure it out in the barn?
I DON"T CARE I WANT A DRYER.

Soooo if anyone knows of a dryer that works sitting in someones basement, or if anyone is moving and wants to get rid of a washer and dryer set(we can always use a back up) , preferably big drum...but at this point as long as it dries. let me know.
I will drive as far as Gilbert, AZ to get one.

I am almost to the point where I might borrow from China.

I know of a spare gas dryer in Idaho :S.

Have you checked Freecycle or Craig's list?

Our last dryer took a good 1.5 hours per load and that was not cool! Then my sisters' MIL came to my rescue with a spare dryer, it's old and noisy, but works!

Had the exact same problem... 1-1/2 to 2 hours/per load. Cleaned the hose, opened the dryer and vacuumed everything out... still nothing. Aggrivating! The last time in the cleaning process my husband accidently poked a hole in the vent hose and now it dries perfectly! Honest! This may just be my answer to prayers, but the other day, my dryer actually finished before my washer. Go figure.

I was going to suggest craigs list too. We have had great luck getting stuff from craigs list at very good prices. Check the Free postings too, sometimes people need to get rid of stuff fast. Good Luck!

I have to second cleaning out the hose. If you use it that much I can bet that the hose is full of lint too. Better yet get a NEW hose. Another thing is if the hose connecting it is not straight anymore (which can happen) it can take longer to dry. So the hose may have a kink in it.

hmm also have you tried to see if it needs a new fuse? When we were in Guam we blew a fuse in a drier and it would dry but it took forever.

ANyways just a few hints...

oh and another thing... check the area where you connect the exit hose for lint when you check your hose. It can get lots in it.

I have to agree with the comments about cleaning out the hose/vent. My dryer is only a few years old. It wasn't drying well at all. I cleaned everything out internally and then checked the vent outside. It was covered in lint. I had the bldg maint guy come and clean that as well. My dryer works great now!!! Also, clean your lint screen. Don't just pull the lint off, but really scrub it with a grease-cutting soap. Fabric softeners build up on the screen. You can't see it, but this build up blocks the airflow.

Good luck.
