DO you remember our roof thing? Long story short We have this 1852 house and it needed an roof. The lowest cost was 15k. We decided to do it ourselves and that was a disaster!
I think the crowning moment was when the remnants of Hurricane Ivan came through and we started to leak. Scott went to the attic to start bailing with buckets. Because the ceilings were coming down fast and furious,I had to move kids into one bedroom. Then I went in to labor.
Someone "anonymous" with a gripe had called CPS on us. With horrific lies.
The night I came home from the hospital a few people were here to take away my kids. Having ceilings down to where you could see daylight and now mold growing and a newborn was not good. We convinced CPS that night that we were not horrible people and insurance company was on it their way. We had 90 days to save our family. Unannounced "Pop in" inspections to show progress became regular.
There on Thanksgiving came a man I had seen a few times at church. I think he was a new convert. He was on my roof finishing it up. I could not get him down. He had come several times before- but never alone.
He worked silently and steady.
He,alone on Thanksgiving, fixed it before the deadline.
He wouldn't even let my husband help. He only asked for something to drink and that my husband stay with our family. "Family is important. You should be together not worrying." Our family was saved.
I tried to thank him many times, but he just brushed it off.

I can't get the whole link, but I can see where it was trying to take me. Sounds like he was a great man and there when you needed him.
I couldn't get the link either. Did you submit this somewhere? It is a great story.
It works now. Jason was 36 and has a beautiful wife Lori. They just had a baby 9 wks ago, Lilly
I remember hearing about that accident :(. My sister ran into a tree when she was snowboarding, she has permanent ringing in her ears now, but she is alive and with us.
