This was my morning.
Well I had some friends over to play and visit teach. Hey why not kill two birds with one stone?.... I like to hang out with them.
One would think by 9:30am I would be showered and my house straightened. Nope.
Thunder was scarying the little visiting children-so I asked S(8) to let Thunder outside. A(3) was willing to be the helper, so we let him. Bad idea.
Almost immediately I get reports that A(3) has his shovel in the family room and there is pile of snow he is flinging around at the visiting children.
Thunder is trying to catch the snow he is throwing ,terrorizing the visiting children with his jumping and teeth.
So we interrupt the lesson and I go take care of that. I am not really sure how, but I decide that I should shovel the remaining snow off my family room floor and flush it( what was I thinking?). I have the girls make a fire to try to dry the carpet.
I sit back down to join the conversation.
Again when A(3) immediately comes in with an egg(no, not a hard boiled one).
"Mom? Can I have an egg?" I ignore my immediate response of jumping up and yelling NOOOOOOO. I gently grab the egg. I walk out of the playroom and into the kitchen where we make an egg sandwich(in the microwave-the Feed your Family guy would be soooo disappointed in me). He helps me by putting butter on the toast and ketchup. I get him situated to at the table.
Again, I go to sit with the grown ups and still-angel children
A(3) doesn't like the sandwich because it lacks jelly. Again what was I thinking?Of course egg sandwiches need jelly, DUH. He is complaining and bringing me the sandwich which falls and Thunder eats.
B(9mos)wants to nurse.
So here it is 1 something PM and my house is finally clean. My kids are well into their home school work. Pretty much done and so I was feeling good. A(3) is watching a educational show, I am sure. I am about to take a shower.
Until....
E(6) and S(8) looking for sugar for their cheerio lunch, find ALL the stocking stuffers and candy(we should just tell all the kids and be done with this Santa thing- they have found most of their presents too anyway)
...and the toilet is over flowing.....it seems to have very very cold water and a shovel in it.
nope not watching a show...
I go by the play room and mention to S(13) and H(11 'teen'), who are doing computer work that ,I am going to take a shower. I was about to say that they are incharge of A(3), BUT he is high above them on the wobbly plastic toys shelves. He is going through the costume bucket with a jester hat on looking for the Elvis wig. How does he know about Elvis?

I think I'd be hiding too ;).
And who knew that shovels don't go in the toilet, hmm....
God bless you Heather. I am so glad my little ones are now older. Little kids stress me out--I just can't keep up!
I love reading your blog. I don't feel like I am such a sorry friend when I have some idea of what is going on in your life now.
