Wow 2011 will soon be a thing of the past. If some have it right, 2012 will be our last. Here is a glimpse of the chaos we like to call The Williams
Alex
came home to NY for college and to play Division 2 LAX. Alex works hard. Summer of 2011 he had 3 jobs and still works 20ish hours a week while going to college full- time and playing a sport. Somewhere college kids thought up that ugly sweaters were cool- the uglier the better. Alex....oh Alex...well let's just say he loves the 80s sweaters from Goodwill and especially one that my Mom had.... Alex is a hard working driven guy that has something most people don't. He is good. He has a good/caring heart and an awareness/intuitiveness of those around him.
Sarah sings.
No really she sings in her sleep. She sings and she doesn't even know it. This year Sarah has joined a record number of choirs, been asked to sing from Church meetings to be on the radio, from hockey games to RPO. This is especially touching to me because Sarah almost didn't make it to 2012. She had a wonderful time in Spain this summer and a horrific trial as well. Sarah overcame and Sarah sings! Sarah continues to work as a Mother's helper for the same family she has for 3 yrs- they just added their second little boy too.Sarah is also getting ready for....wait for it....graduating from high school and college(Mom groans here).
Hannah is AWESOME!
Hannah is the living definition of 'still waters run deep'. Hannah used to be the shy quiet girl, but she came out of her shell this year. She traveled to Spain....even ventured to Madrid for a week with out family. She didn't want to continue to be afraid of talking to people and took a Speech class. Now she loves public speaking. Hannah is insightful and a nurturing soul. I often find myself blown away by the things she says. She is sooo sweet reading to Emma a few chapters every night and singing with Ben. Hannah writes wonderful stories and is reading the Book of Mormon in a foreign language.
Seth
went from being a boy to being a young man this year. Seth is active in Boy Scouts and is ahead of track to be an Eagle Scout. He is soooo smart, and the independence of middle school has been amazing. Seth is a mathematician. Last year he was asked to take advanced math, which he did and thrived. This year,in 7th grade, he started high school Math. He definitely gets that from his Father's side of the family. Seth is the hardest working Williams and His work ethic is like nothing I have ever seen at his age....or older. Seth has always viewed himself and was/is comfortable in being the 'geek'. This year he joined the ranks of those who wear the label 'athlete'. Seth is on the wrestling team! He has a lot to learn and is having fun doing it!
Emma
loves playing, swimming, exploring, and COOKING COOKING COOKING. As I sit here typing this post, she is wrapping Christmas presents for her sisters and brothers. I gave her money to go to a book sale with her best friend, Kaitlyn, and she used it to buy her family trinkets. She is at the crossroads in life where she is still a little girl, but wants to go to the mall with her older sisters. Did I mention Emma LOVES to cook?!?!
Andrew
Oh Andrew. Andrew is a joyful, crazy, fun boy. He is constant movement and not just a single movement. If his legs are dancingly walking, his head is bobbing while his arms are flapping....all just to get a glass of milk. He is a scientist at heart, wanting to know "why?" deeper than you expect. There is a childrens book called 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie' by Laura Numeroff that was written with Andrew in mind. Andrew loves origami and Mine craft, archery and especially any adventure he can think of with our dog, Heidi.
Ben
is our resident Dinosaur expert. No really. He can tell you what dinosaur is a carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. I...can't even spell them. Half the time I think he is making it up but,he isn't. Ben is musical and friendly and happy. He is flexible and rolls with the punches. Where Andrew is a daredevil-ready to leap off a roof to fly- Ben is cautious and leery.Ben is no fool. I tell him he'd better stop growing because he is my baby and I am running out of babies....he doesn't listen.
Scott and I are fine. We get through life same as you. We wrangle, teach, coddle, cry, hope, pray, cheer, fail and succeed with our family daily. We love each other and say
PHEW another year! WOW !!!!We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but it's nothing we can't handle....together.
Happy New Year to you and stay tuned. We will need all the help we can get to make it here again next year:)
