I Can't Forget Ben! He Needs One Too!

This is not just another post on my religion. Well... maybe it is, but it is also how a caring four old loves his brother and wants to be included.

We are taught to have family scripture reading and we have not been consistent in our home. Some years we are great and other times the dust has accumulated.
It really has to do with schedules. I get home at 2 am and two leave at 5:30.

Anyhow Pageant has helped us renew the conviction and we have started again.

Andrew wanted his own scriptures.

It is tradition on our home to give scriptures to the kids at their baptism. Before that, they use the cartoon copies or paperback ones.
Andrew wanted his own, but I dismissed him for three or so days
Then off to the bookstore we went.
He got a hard cover.
With his name embossed.
His face beamed.
and I was happy that my son beamed over wanting scriptures.

BUT WAIT!!!!!!

All this joy and some one was left out.
While he played in the playroom at the book store waiting for his name to be embossed,it hit him,... he needed his brother to have one too.
NEEDED

Turns out he IS his brother's keeper.
My heart jumped and the women behind the counter teared up. She called another person to emboss Ben's name 'cuz she couldn't see through her tears straight.

As we got into the van, I silently thanked my God, not only for allowing me to be part of this moment, to learn from this Child of his, but trusting me enough.
while Andrew spontaneously sang aca pella ,alone in the back of the van
Follow the Prophet...Follow the Prophet

He asked me on the way home why we needed the scriptures, and I explained.
He said he thought he needed this more than a remote car, but wondered why his heart told him that......wow.

"Next time I am bringing Hannah to give me money to buy a Liahona....Ben would think it is really cool."

"I am glad I didn't forget Ben, Mom. Mom sometimes you are a forgetter, but Ben NEEDS them too. I never forget Ben NEEDS scriptures."
I didn't think they were even listening as they wallowed on the floor

Leaping in the house calling Ben's name, he handed over the treasure and exclaimed
"Now we have ours each! We got our own!!! I got this for you!!!!!"

thank you for this moment
