Every night at the Hill Cumorah Pageant we, the cast, crew and staff, sing
THE SONG OF CUMORAH
Music by Crawford Gates:
If you have felt a change in your heart
And sung the song of redeeming love,
Then come unto Jesus, our Savior
Sin and death are swallowed up in --Christ.
Jesus light and life of the world.
Jesus light and life of the world
If you have felt the change in your heart,
And sung the song of redeeming love,
Then come unto Jesus our Savior:
Come unto,
Come unto Him!.
I will admit that at first I thought it a little Kum Bah Yah ish for me....
I am cynical by nature.
The Hill Cumorah Pageant is a lot of different things for people, depending on the time of their lives. It is HARD HARD work. HARD!
It starts by all the cast arriving Friday night. 729 cast members have one week to put on the show.
It is a very very organized system.
Exhausting and extremely hard.
It pushes people to their limits and definitely out of their comfort zone.
But there is a Spirit.
A typical day is arriving at 830 and a morning meeting/devotional.
rehearsal after rehearsal
lunch
rehearsal after rehearsal there are several rehearsals of different scenes going on the massive stage at the same time. There are also cyber stages.
Dinner
rehearsal after rehearsal or when it is time...greeting the audience and preforming the show.
The kids have cast teams of peers their age or Primary. All day long they are in a Zion-like environment...they love it.
I love it!
I am able to re-connect with my husband and more importantly reconnect with my God.
I read the scriptures and they came alive for the first time in ages. No longer was it " Behold I say unto you...." or "And it came to past..."
It was real people in real struggles and victories. Daniel in the Lions Den, brave. Lehi wanting is family to come to the tree...that is me. He even calls them " in a Loud voice"... like me. I use a loud voice sometimes because I want good for my kids too.
It took three times... THREE for the people at the Temple to understand the Voice. Heeellooooo, they just went through the destruction of everything and darkness for three days. They gather at the temple- so they must have some knowledge of what is going on, yet... they had to be told 3 times before they understood. I,too, at times have had to be told more than once...more than twice....ok way more than three time... by the Voice of the Lord.
My heart changed.
I am can relate to the House of Israel as they wandered, being feed manna. I am soooo blessed, but at times I don't see the blessings -only hardships and do at times complain. I use to thin those retards..how easily they forget the miracles...but I, too, am the retard.
So for me the Hill Cumorah Pageant 2009 was Ben on my shoulders 24/7, and
a change in my heart
