Sunday Emma was baptized. It was a very special day for our family. Emma was thrilled to see all the family and friends come to her special day. She had asked her second grade teacher to come along with another teacher and they both came.It was literally standing room only and I was asked if I wanted to move it into the chapel, lol.
Emma's smile beamed!
In Family Home Evening, Emma put together the program as follows:
Opening song: Baptism
Opening Prayer: Andrew
Talk on Baptism was by her Primary Teacher
Scott( Dad Baptized her,we were going to have Alex...he was too nervous)
Some Primary children sang I Know That My Redeemer Lives while Emma was getting changed.
Also I had brought a few baskets of fancy paper where people could write to Emma a special note. Those who wanted to/needed to could draw pictures. These little notes have tickled her ever since.
Sarah spoke on the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Scott,Grandpa,Uncle Dennis, and others confirmed her a member of the Church. It was very sweet.
We closed by singing I am trying to be Like Jesus
The moment I want to remember the most is..Emma was scared. At the last minute, she was scared to get baptized. She froze in the room. I told her that we could do it another day.... more privately if that would help. I told her we could just go and have the goodies we had brought....
She looked at me and said
"Mom I just need a minute to pray with you, then I won't shy anymore. Jesus and God want me to do this."
I was a mess after that....bawling like a baby.
She also said that the best thing about being baptized was finally being able to go to Achievement Girls.
I found my camera, but don't take very good pictures. Luckily Deborah came and I hope she can salvage some memories.
