Sooo the company I work for has a policy that as long as you work out of your home office 6 mos out of the year, you can work at any center across the national as a visiting interpreter. My friend Dawn and her family took them up on that offer and was able to escape NY's winter.
Scotto and I got this crazy idea to visit her. To play.I passed the cert test so why not?
So we did.
We flew into Ft Lauderdale, spent three days on Cocoa Beach, drove back to Ft. Lauderdale, and then off Miami/ South Beach. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
I have never done anything like this before. I mean, I have been to Florida quite often, but not just me and friends to have fun. It had been awhile too.
The sun felt wonderful. I forgot that the ocean breeze teases you into not remembering that you are actually frying (even with sunblock on).
One night we happened upon a local gathering spot. It turned out to be a restaurant owned by former Rochesterians. In their back yard, all the locals came for a jam session. It was soooooooooo fun. Harmonicas, banjos, fiddles and guitar players from around the brackish came and allowed us a peek. Loved it!
Dawn and I happened to find the nature hike of "Hammock Trail" just off I Dream of Jeanie Way. The hike was absolutely amazing.
What more can I say? A breath of fresh air, good friends, fun times!!!!

SOOOO fun! I'm so glad you did this! You'll have to share the name of the rochestarian restaurant with me if I ever get to FL again....
How wonderful for you two to get away from the kids for a few days.
