I am a interpreter. 24/7.
Last night I as running last (as usual) and Sarah had freshman orientation. I got dinner on the table, showered and ran out the door.
I couldn't find a clean towel so I didn't dry off too much. I couldn't find nice clothes because.... well I don't have any. My first thought was to do laundry and just throw on PJ bottoms.
NAAAAAAW better not...
So I throw on some olive green camos and a brown t-shirt. At the last minute,(well running late) I couldn't find my flip flops-so I add my cute gold ballerina slippers (love those shoes).
Kindda army-bling look.
No one will see me. I didn't think had to go in. I was just dropping her off.
Hmm all these parents are walking in.....
My hair and now shirt are wet. Maybe I will just make sure she gets in to the right area.
The program has already started and I was suppose to stay. We make our way up to the top of the bleachers- to much groaning of people we had to climb over. I can feel some one watching me. I brush it aside as my insecurities.
Nope.
I get up to the top bleacher in the gym and say 'Hey there is So-N-So she is interpreting.Cool.'
She signs
Help Me you please will.
Huh? The speaker didn't say that.
"Heather Help Me you please will NOW?!"
"Me?"
"Yes."
In my mind I say "Crap". I sign "Sure."
So back I go down and there is more groaning- but at least this time I get someone wet:)
She takes off and I interpret. In my army camo look- wet. BUT I have cute shoes on.
I made $65...woot!
Today Scott and I went to the Temple for a session. We go in and sit down. We are asked to be ready sit again in the front row. I notice that it is set up to have Deaf come in. I noticed a women that looked familiar. She has an "aha" moment where she recognizes me as an interpreter. She tells me how she and her husband are there for a special purpose and can
"Help Me you please interpret will?"
Sure.

Wow, amazing! I'm sure people were watching your signing more than your wet shirt ;).
