Who are you and where are you from...

Ok so I recently read an article on Mom's and blogs. It warned of pervs coming and also stalkers. I have been thinking of whether I should make this an invite only blog or what not.

I have to say I am hesitant .
I have added extra protection to this site .

I currently have four visitors that come here that I am not familiar with. Scott investigated and found out more information about them and I will ask you this...... who are you?

Here are the general info:

If you are from San Fransisco, CA(IP Address 65.198.3.# (Pacific Digital Image) ISP Verizon Business ) email and tell me who you are. I do have family in that area of CA and assuming it is you, but Scott is hot on the case and we will figure you out anyway, if he hasn't already.

If I have to, I will call Jacob over here and HE WILL be all over you like white on rice.

The other person comes from my friend, Chris Riker's, blog. I have a good idea who it is and because of line of work type of stuff.... Anyhoo Slacker Mom ask Chris for my email and let me know if it is you.

SLC, UT IP Address 72.255.1.# .....again from the more detailed info from Scott, I am pretty sure I know who you are. But because this is a mulit used compter, in South Jordan, email me to confirm or deny.

The fourth ...oh never mind Scott just figured you out. You know that even if you read this on a cell , we can figure it out? Now I have your cell number.VERY Cool.

I'm here!

I've seen a bunch of posts like this recently and it just makes me sad.

I'll admit, I'm a "blog stalker"... If I read comments somewhere, sometimes I'll click to find out who else knows my "friends".

Because of this, I have 3 or 4 people that I read and consider "friends" just from "stalking"... we've commented on each others blogs for almost a year in 2 of the cases - a few months in the others.

For me, that's sort of the purpose of having a blog: to share things with friends/family and sometimes complete strangers!

Hope you work it all out! :)

Two questions--who knows their IP address?
Why do you really care who reads your blog? I figure it is all public information, so I only include things that I don't care who sees. I would think you would be flattered that people find your blog interesting--just look at Pioneer Woman, for example.
Anyway, just my thoughts.

Speaking of being a blog stalker--which I totally am--read Katrina's blog themangfamily.blogspot.com/2008/03/easter-bunny-visits-er.html

Just because I now have a guilty conscience, I will admit that I read your blog. But I think you might know that.

In case you have no idea who I am, I'm friends with that nephew of yours. And I go to school in Utah and I am from the Bay Area... so who knows what my IP address might show up as.

In other thoughts, your blog makes me smile. :) This is all.

I have to agree with Deborah. If you post it on your blog and don't require logins to view it, it's all public information. It's fun to check out what others have to say. I admit that I don't know the people in the links that you have on your page, but I've checked out a few of the blogs. EVERYONE just needs to be careful about what they post in their blogs.

I am trying not to be perinode, but I love my kids and worry about pervs and identity theft.

I like to lurk on others blogs too, and that is why I don't want to make it a private only. I have fun and learn from others.

I just don't want pervs.

Kerianna you are MORE than welcome to lurk or come out of lurkerdom

Maybe I'm niave but I think my children are at more of a risk from people I know than from someone who happens upon my blog. Does it happen? Yes. TRampoline's are dangerous too- more-so than blogs I'd imagine statistically, but I still have one. I probably shouldn't have my last name AND my first name up there but really, if they want to know who I am, they can figure it out. AS far as identity theft, well, so many people have my social by now that if that is going to happen, it probably won't be from my blog. It will probably be from some school being hacked or something like that.

I don't even use those word verification things because I hate them and I think I've only ever gotten one spam comment anyway.

By the way- I LOVE your circling the wagons analogy and used it the other day. That's kind of what we are doing here.

My husband knows our IP address, but those that know him wouldn't be surprised ;).

I'm on here too. I like to see what is going on. :) I love to read about big families. Maybe it makes me feel normal. I promise, I don't need any more, ha ha ha. I hope that nothing would really happen. I should talk to dh about mine.
