Don't roll your eyes. I know, been there done that. Hey at least it's not Jacob 5 yet
ooooooooooh that olive tree.
Oh Wait first , I learned something else in my own studies.
In Ether 2:2-7 it talks about what kind of people these Jaradties were.
Smart and skilled workmen.
They made "vessels " to carry fish and fowls through the wilderness. They were led by the Lord in a cloud into a wilderness that no man had ever gone.....carrying bees and fish, wow.
How they'd do that?
They were able to make barges in the wilderness. Amazing. How'd they get the barges to the sea then.... poor women. I don't want to do that.
Wow very skilled.
There are some different attitudes I noticed about Lehi seeing the dream and Nephi going to inquire about it.
Lehi prays before he gets this vision. Nephi can't figure it out and what does he do... ponder and pray. Nephi was not just taught in the language of his father... but in the "learning of my father." Lehi was an good example.
Lehi, a tender parent, tastes the fruit and looks immediately for his family. Nephi just wants to figure it all out. A little glimpse of personalities there. I like it 'cuz it makes them more real to me.
The angel asks if Nephi believes his father, Nephi says yes, but can't figure it out and the angel SHOUTS Hosanna. How happy is he that Nephi believes and is willing to humble himself. That is a HAPPY Angel.
In 1 Nephi 11:25, the Tree of Life is also referred to the "fountain of living water." I cross referenced that with the story of Jesus at the well. Very cool.
The bldg is of course pride, but in 1Nephi 11: 35 , those in it actually "... fights against the 12 and the Lamb" .
The fruit is the greatest gift and what is that? D&C 14: 7.
The mist is temptation of Satan....mist is a beautiful illustration. It surrounds you, envelopes you but you can't put you finger on it.
The whole condescension of God... to "condescend "to come down with.... a beautiful tender mercy.
Iron rod - I began thinking there are at least three ways I can think of getting the Word of God : scriptures, Prophets, and personal revelations.
That links with the witness promise and out of two or more.... this was an ahaha moment
Any way those are a few new or revisited thoughts I had this week that have been thrumming around in my mind.

What struck me this time in Lehi's Dream

Thanks for the thoughts... Ren is gospel doctrine teacher so we've been chatting back and forth all week about the vision and it's nice to get another perspective. One thing I noticed is that you can cross reference the four groups of people holding to the rod with the four groups of people mentioned in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13. They match up rather nicely.
