my dumb knee

so i blew out my knee again. this time really bad. soooo bad that after 3 weeks of ibuprofen -not- helping pain, i went to the drs.
i have 2 pointy bone spurs,
torn meniscus,
and get this
arthritis.
hey now it's not just for old people. i learned that it is just an uneven space between the bones.
one area on the inside of my right knee, it's almost bone on bone.

ooooooh i got this injection...i now understand drug addicts. it was a beautiful thing. beautiful.

no more running. he doesn't even want me to walk with Rosanne.
i was sad....now i'm mad

swimming (yeah right, you mean floating) biking, elliptical,
biking hurts my knee, weird,or any other" non impact" exercise only from now on
after 3 more weeks of rest.
mhmmm with 7 kids rest.

i am signed up already for 2 races...

I have arthritis too, have since I was 17, so nope, not just for old people ;).

Everything hurt on me for awhile, when I was first diagnosed, but now it's not too bad, I can ignore it for the most part and being at a healthy weight for me helps the most. My uncle passed away a year or so ago, due to complications of severe arthritis, he always told me to keep exercising, keep moving, take care of myself and do the best that I can. So that's what I'm doing :).

I'm sure in a few weeks when the torn miniscus feels better, you can slowly (I mean it, slowly) get back into good exercise again.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I love it when Doc says rest to a mom, what a joke! Try and "rest" as much as possible. :-) And I did find drugs to be a great friend in my stint at the hospital.

Been there, done that. But I only had one child at the time. I tore my ACL (major ligament) in my right knee. I was on the non-impact plan for two years until I had reconstructive surgery. Cycling is awfully boring. But I fell in love with the elliptical because it was the closest thing I could find to compare with running, and man, does it tire you out. Swimming. I’ve fallen in love with swimming as well. It’s a GREAT workout, with no pain. Good luck Heather. Especially with the resting part.
